The Dacre Arms comes close to defining the classic neighbourhood local. It's a small, snug place with lots of pictures and ephemera around the walls. Unusually for such a small pub, there are regular guest beers on tap (usually three) and a good range of bottled beers. The atmosphere always seems relaxed, friendly and polite; it's a pub where conversation definitely takes priority. A small TV is turned on for sports events, but with the volume muted - an excellent idea in our book. The Dacre Arms might be a little out of the way, but it's all the better for that.

Only four pints on the official rating? This super local definitely deserves to be a 5-pinter! Best pub for miles around.

Had happy memories of this pub. Went back recently with 3 friends, had a couple of beers each, then were told " I think it's time you were leaving ladies." Astounded, we asked why, and were told we'd been there too long without ordering another round... It was 10.40pm on a quiet thursday evening. We left. A pleasant pub suddenly became very unpleasant.
