The Duke of Wellington, Sloane Square
FancyaPint?'s review...
We're regular visitors to this Shepherd Neame house and are firm fans of its cosy, unpretentious atmosphere. With a good mix of punters and a welcoming feel, it's just the sort of place made for a cosy drink on a dark winter's night. There are the usual SN ales on tap as well as an interesting choice of lagers for those preferring the fizz (Asahi and Oranjeboom) and simple, old-school pub grub on offer - sandwiches don't come with meticulously arranged hand-cut wedges here. Indeed, the price of food is equally old-school, in some cases half that of nearby Chelsea gastropubs. The simple layout of the pub, a horseshoe bar with tables and booths against the walls give the pub's interior a traditional feel, but there's Sky Sports on the telly for any sports addicts. Service is prompt and attentive and although it sports a Belgravia post code, it's a lot more down to earth than its location suggests and, along with the nearby Fox and Hounds, and Antelope, is worth seeking out.

Good pub this. Full range of Shepherd Neame beers on pump, decent pub grub, outside seating, a smattering of regulars of all shapes and sizes to give it a proper atmosphere, and not over-run with tourists despite being only a short walk from Sloane Sq.

Sad that John, one of the best Pub Manager's in the UK, doesn't still run this homely and friendly pub. Shepherd Neame take note that your (ex-Managers) and ideas are fading both in London and Brighton (Regency Tavern)...your prices have risen out of proportion and you let John go? Check your accounts balance and happiness sheets please?
If you read this John, I'm Steve from Mexico...a consistent regular of yours whilst I stayed in England and you in charge of the Duke of Boots!!...Write me an email, I have the capital...perhaps we can open a "friendly and price accessible pub" in London.
Regards---Steve
