The Eagle, Croydon
FancyaPint?'s review...
Well, it's a sports bar. We could leave it at that, and assume you'd know what we were talking about as they all do tend to blur after a while. But it's not that typical, at least externally. The outside is entirely tiled in a browny-orange tile that glows in the sun and is obviously not of recent manufacture. It's obviously been called the Eagle for some time, as there's a bas relief eagle in the tilework over the door. The inside, on the other hand, is much as you'd expect, with lager the main drink. They do offer real ale in the form of Young's bitter which was a nice surprise. If you don't want to watch the sport, there's a pool table and regular karaoke nights to break up the sporting schedule. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's one of the better ones in our book.
