The Ethorpe Hotel, Gerrards Cross
FancyaPint?'s review...
A year or two after a root and branch refit, and we like it. Actually more oak beam and plank flooring, really. Along with the old lamps, iron pots, the odd grandfather clock and plenty of hops on the ceiling, it has clearly worked, even if you didn't suffer the previous version. Yes, a younger Quixote has been known to enjoy the beer-garden at the height of the rutting season, which is still there, but it was the only highlight. They now have a reputation for good food, a varied menu with lots of daily specials, and a decent range of wines. It is really quite big, but there plenty of tables tucked into nooks and corners to sup or dine in some intimacy. Add a fine (real!) log fireplace, friendly efficient staff and a good range of beers (Courage Best, Bombardier, Pride and a guest - all well kept, and tasters offered) and the owners, Chef and Brewer, can justly claim to have changed our minds about the brand. But they'll never quite shake one fine memory...

How to find the The Ethorpe Hotel pub
From the train station, turn left onto the high street at the end of the ramp and after about 200 metres on the first bend you'll see the hotel straight ahead, set back in grounds on the corner, and there is an entrance to the bar to the left from the pavement.
