This friendly locals pub in deepest, darkest E17 is a bit of an institution and another pub in the area known for live music nights. We've heard about it for years, but never managed to get to it. We're glad we finally managed it, as it's definitely one of the better pubs in the area - it's a bit of time capsule which probably means it'll be updated before long. Large mirrors on the wall advertise Bass and the old Wenlock Brewing Co. 'Famous ales'. Friendly staff and locals, decent beer (Bass on draught, which we haven't seen in a donkey's age) make it a very pleasant place to sit and read a paper or chill watching the racing or a football match. Worth the trip. Oh, and the pool table is in the beer garden!

How to find the The Flower Pot pub

The pub is just opposite Wood Street railway station. You can catch the overground from Liverpool Street or Walthamstow Central (which is the closest you're going to get to this one by tube). Turn right out of the station and head up the road. The pub is ahead on the left. There are buses, but check Transport for London for best way to get there.
