The Folly, Bank
FancyaPint?'s review...
Sister to the nearby Anthologist and calling itself 'the City's secret garden', it's definitely got interesting modern decor. In keeping with the 'garden' idea, the dining area is made up largely of what looks like picnic tables. Food is definitely on their mind, also including a Chef's Table dining experience just as the Anthologist does. There's lots of very pale wood, giving it a slightly Scandinavian look. There's a massive subterranean bar area which looks more cosy, or it would if there were more furniture down there - maybe it's to accommodate the live music advertised. That said, it is more comfortable, although most of the furniture sprinkled about is uncomfortably modern. As with our experience at the Anthologist, the service was slow - and if table service is standard, they should say so! There's decent ales on the taps, comprised of Woodfords Wherry and Pride when we were in last. We'll have to give it another go to see if the service is better at peak times.
