The Fox, Putney
FancyaPint?'s review...
We could have sworn the Fox was a Young's pub - the beer, the menu all screamed 'Young's' to us, but we can't find any mention that it's part of their stable. Odd, as we can't see why anyone would intentionally create a chain pub atmosphere in a modern pub. Never mind, we still had a reasonable time here, with decent examples of Young's beer, more tellies than we could ever watch at once and a smattering of regulars and local workers whiling away their lunch hours (and more). We suppose that it's working hard to compete with the Wetherspoon pub across the way, but from what we could see it was doing okay. It's a bit of mishmash in terms of seating areas, ranging from traditional pub furniture to booths along one wall, to (slightly tatty) sofas in the corner next to the loo - which pong a bit. Overall, it's okay, and if you're not that fond of Wetherspoon, this is probably a reasonable alternative.
