The Frog, Clapham Common
FancyaPint?'s review...
This popular Clapham pub has been extensively refurbished and has returned as a tres moderne gastro offering - but with TVs everywhere and a somewhat truncated name. World Cup aside, there appears to be a big emphasis on sport here. The staff are friendly, the beer on the two taps is good, the roof terrace is still a draw and there's every reason to expect it to become popular with the locals. Sadly, however, the Frog just left us a little cold on this occasion, not to mention all the tables were set for eating (one of our pet hates) when we arrived late afternoon. It is early days yet, as it's only just reopened - we'll have to get back and see what it's like on another night.

Visited just after opening - no beer on tap! Had the feel of a beige cafe rouge and all tables were laid! Went back last night(opening gremlins notwithstanding) and both Doom Bar and other guest ale was off. Flexible enough technologically to show both the Australia match for the 80-odd on the terrace, the Germany match for some downstairs and black-and-white Laurel & Hardy for those in the front bar not interested in either. Sort the beers out and lay the tables when someone orders food and it would be welcome addition to the Old Town. Thanks for not calling it The Old Town - it's now just the plain, old 'Frog'!
