whilst it was nice to see a proper family run pub and the staff were friendly, we found the landlord to be very short-tempered and moody, in addition his daughter dressed appallingly. she was loudmouthed and crass and seemed to be flirting with all the clientele: not very professional. some of the staff seemed to be under serious stress and this affected their service skills, made worse by the landlord publicly telling-off and embarrassing his staff.

Although The George is a nice looking pub it is more than we can say for some of the clientele. Beware of the foul mouthed fishwife from the local darts team who thinks she owns the pub - if you sit in 'her' seats which she thinks are always reserved for her, you will be subjected to a torrent of abuse or which the bar-staff just let her get away with. Our advice, do NOT visit this pub as it is very unfriendly and unwelcoming - even though they sell Landlord (which is a great beer) - there is only so much you can put up with. The Fishwife should be barred before she empties the pub and it becomes yet another block of flats.

Fine ale and a warm welcome. Proper locals chatting and a landlord that's looking after the place. We had very decent pints drawn from two of the pumps, and served with a very friendly smile. A haven in a desert - worth checking out.

An increasingly rare thing these days; a pub with a choice of rooms. Good ales including Taylor's Landlord, reasonable lunchtime food menu, and always plenty of lively discussion going on. Has been renovated to a very high standard without losing too much character. Well worth a visit.
