West Green Road looks a bit unloved at the Turnpike Lane end, with the Goat proving no exception. A former Wetherspoon's pub, it still follows the formula of cheap prices with deals on Fosters and John Smith's on our last visit, but despite numerous hand pumps we saw no sign of real ales anymore. At some point there has been an attempt to make the interior look old by adding a series of wooden beams to the ceiling, but little has been done to the décor in recent years. It's quite dark when you get to the back, where a pool table is located, and the toilets won't be placing too much stress of the electric meter either. However, the service was friendly and it's a perfectly acceptable place to have a drink if you find yourself in this part of the world.

Another one bites the dust.

It still looks like a pub at the time of writing, but with all of the curtains closed I cannot say about the state of the fixtures and fittings.
