The Goose, Streatham
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Art Deco facade on this pub almost aggrandises this place - we say almost, because beneath the lovely shell beats the heart of a fairly average pub. It's formula stuff, but that said, there's something comforting and professional about this large, welcoming, well laid out modern bar where female office workers, groups of working men and the occasional marooned solo dependency-drinker coexist happily. The big bar does gain some intimacy through good use of stool-surrounded pillars, varied seating areas and a raised section offering a degree of privacy at partitioned tables. The beer range isn't terribly inspiring, but they have three pumps on the bar, and at least one looks like a guest. And judging by the number of people in when we were there last, it must be doing something right.
