The Grange, Ealing
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Grange is an upmarket pub which has been owned by Young's for a couple of years and one which fits very well into it's elegant surroundings. A grand Victorian corner property, it overlooks Ealing Common, although the large alfresco bit is around the back. Diners take precedence in the front section of the pub - a very attractive it is, too - but the poor ventilation can make it stuffy on sunny days. Elsewhere drinkers have the usual bohemian mix of couches, butcher's block tables and - shock horror - normal tables and chairs to choose from. Only a couple of ales on offer (Young's and Bombardier) but there's a large selection of premium lagers, wine and whiskey. For those who come to eat, there's a small and pricey menu of freshly prepared pub staples. Service is pretty attentive, while our visit found a wide range of customers, creating a chilled but fairly lively atmosphere. Overall the Grange is a very competent pub, with a slick and professional approach, which means that while it earns a three pint rating, it does lack the genuine warmth of more highly rated places.
