The Green Man, Fitzrovia
FancyaPint?'s review...
Revamped a while ago now, the Green Man was one of the first pubs in recent times to start making a big thing about cider - so much so, they have their own-branded version on tap nowadays. In addition to the eponymous cider, there are usually at least eight other variations on tap and keg listed on the board above the bar, not to mention the many bottled options - covering cider, perry and mulled cider in winter. Safe to say then, that the Green Man is up there with Chimes and the Southampton Arms as an excellent spot for fans of pome-derived drinks. However, the feel here is fresh and contemporary, with the CD choices and free music papers more familiar to the bars of E1 than the pubs of W1 and, consequently it draws a somewhat younger crowd. With fairly solid pub grub on offer to soak up the often over 7% strength of the ciders on offer, we're pleased to see the Green Man is a pub trying to do something different and succeeding.

this is great pub. Always busy and I've never had a problem being served. Only problem is on a couple of times I've been in they've let people get stupid drunk. The Old Rosie etc is super-strong and I've seen people make a nuisance of themselves and even get lairy because they've had one two many.
Otherwise decent boozer.

Couldn't agree more. A potentially excellent pub spoiled by hipster retards who are too busy spending their parents money on expensive trucker hats they forget that in pubs customers like to get served.
The last straw was when I had bangers and mash here. 50 minutes later and stone cold. Needless to say i got my money back and have never returned!
The Fitzroy Tavern - now there's a good local.

recently renovated and themed as a cider house. very nicely done but the place is ruined by the painfully style conscious staff. The problem is that they don't like serving drinks. they are the slowest I have ever seen and are quite surly. no matter how many people are waiting to be served they refuse to move any faster or to cut short their conversations with each other (perhaps comparing outfits or swapping tips on vintage t-shirts and tight jeans). it's actually amazing to watch for a minute or two but very irritating when you're waiting to buy a drink. i've been quite a few times as I work nearby and it really feels like they resent having to serve you. a shame because it's a very nice pub.

How to find the The Green Man pub
From Oxford Circus, walk north on Regent Street until you reach All Souls church. Riding House Street is the right turn just before the church. Follow it along for about five minutes and the pub is on the right, just past the Kings Arms.
