Opening up next door to a fine pub like the Richard I can't have been easy, but the Greenwich Union pulled it off. It's a smart, spacious place that's modern and has a relaxed vibe. The bar offers a unique range of superb beer from the nearby Meantime Brewery, including raspberry beer, blonde ale and chocolate stout. When unable to make up our minds, a friendly barmaid gave us some free samples of different beers - excellent service matched by the enthusiasm of the staff for their wares. If the draught beers don't tempt you, there's a good selection of bottled beer in the fridge. A varied gastro-esque menu has main courses for around £8. Greenwich Union is somewhere that you could happily bring friends who aren't really into pubs. The only negative can be the abundance of parents and push chairs around at the weekends, so if kids don't induce a warm sentimental glow, then you might choose to do your boozing elsewhere at these times. This is really nit-picking, though, as the Greenwich Union is a top place.

One of my favorites in the area. It is worth to mention the food, really spectacular. The selection of beers is quite good, although I don't specially like the range of ales.

The menu includes a suggested beer with each plate, a good excuse to try a new pint.

I agree with fellowmelad. Good beer, food good too. Prices bit on the steep side (but not as bad as at the Cafe venture in the Hospital - also in Greenwich). It's a nice place for a beer and a chat but maybe not for more than two of you at a time.

Can't go wrong with this joint. Great selection of top-notch beers, decent food, nice atmopshere, garden out the back. Only criticism? Yer getting close to a fiver for a pint, even if the drink is quality, that's a bit on the dear site. Very nice place though.

Quality pub, great beers, lovely area out the back. They also had a good sense of humour about everyone in our party being dressed as Rab C. Nesbitt, which made for a great stop on a stag-do pub crawl.

This place is absolutely top notch. There isn't much else to say. Great selection of beers, good service, good atmosphere. A little pricey, but worth it.

Lovely little pub with a small outside area and friendly staff. Also serves great and reasonably priced food.
