The Greyhound is a fine example of a traditional English pub, hidden away in a quiet corner of Hendon. For centuries the building served as the parish hall to the neighbouring church, and the varnished wood smell of the small right-hand room of the pub makes it easy to imagine the building in such a role. The larger room, meanwhile, has an abundance of cosy armchairs and small tables, and is a perfect place to relax, and one that is popular with people of all ages. Bar staff are friendly and attentive, and everything is perfectly civilised. A good range of Young's fine ales are available, both bottled and on hand pumps. But before you drink too many, pay due heed to the moral and physical thermometer' displayed on the wall! This is without doubt the best pub in Hendon, but, more than that, quite possibly the best for several miles around in all directions.

Just had the most delicious pizza here. Was on the way to a business meeting and I thought the Greyhound looked OK, Young's pub. Inside it's lovely and clean, a proper pub with real beers and big fireplace. Nice coffee too. Defintely worth popping in.

How to find the The Greyhound pub

Hendon Central: turn right out of the tube and head along the Hendon Way. At the traffic lights ahead, turn right up The Burroughs. Follow the road round, past lots of council offices, and then turn left down Church End, passing the Chequers. You'll see the pub on the right just after the church. It's a ten-minute walk or so in all.
