The Hope & Anchor, Hornsey
FancyaPint?'s review...
An unremarkable pub which does the (slightly more) remarkable task of pleasing all the people it serves. The clientele consisted of old locals, young N4 flatsharers, couples popping in for a pre-meal drink and even a couple of lager lads, but this pub took them all in it's stride. With patterned carpets, cheap and cheerful food, a nicotine coloured ceiling and forgettable wallpaper, this was what most pubs were like in the 90s, before the gastro revolution. The couches at the back are the only nod at modernity. With the inclusion of a pool table and billiard table, plus a beer garden, there's nothing wrong here at all, but its location means its probably only of interest to locals.

How to find the The Hope & Anchor pub
Not exactly near the tube, you can catch the train to Hornsey Train Station and turn left and walk up the hill for a few minutes - its on the right. Alternatively from Turnpike Lane catch the 41 bus towards Archway for about 3-5 minutes. The pub is on the right, just past Hornsey train Station and amongst the first parade of shops you encounter, near the Police Station.
