The Islington Tap, Islington
FancyaPint?'s review...
A simple premise: change one letter of your name and become an entirely new pub. Once a member of the 'Tup' chain, a few years back they gave the place a lick of paint and put up some stick-on Tap motifs on the windows. Nevertheless, the place isn't all that bad. It's a large, stripped out affair, but seems less pretentious than some other local 'drinkeries'. The service is good; even if it was probably because they were quiet, giving the option of table service for drinks is always encouraging. The drink choice is fine and they serve pretty good food 'till late: if only they'd considered that installing an open kitchen should be more than knocking down a partition wall. But this is certainly one to consider as its location off the main drag means it doesn't get as busy as other Islington pubs, but still has the advantage of opening to midnight during the week and 1am Friday to Sunday.
