The King's Head, Acton
FancyaPint?'s review...
When it comes to pubs, Acton is quite unusual. Firstly, there are a surprisingly large amount of them, and secondly a lot of them are still unreconstructed pubs with older fellas propping up the bar. The King's Head - an imposing pub in a prominent position on the High Street - has recently made an attempt to widen its appeal and a change of management has heralded a refurbishment. This is a large open plan pub but there are enough nooks and crannies to make it interesting, along with an impressive-looking table football. That said, its size means it needs to be busy to create a decent atmosphere; afternoons here can be a rather lacklustre experience. There are a couple of Fuller's ales on, with the Pride in decent condition, but we wondered why the bottled ale range was so limited - strangely we only saw Pride on offer. If you're hungry, a small but inexpensive pizza menu is on offer. The big change however is a focus on live entertainment, with music taking place either upstairs or in the main bar most days of the week, ranging from jazz and blues to funk and soul. You'll also find a quiz night taking place on Tuesdays. Add a nice little beer garden and you have all the ingredients of a decent pub - time will tell how it settles in over the coming months.

Under new management - there will be a review shortly.
We have given the pub a well needed facelift. The beer is now kept lovingly. Food is delicious homecooked Italian at very reasonable prices.
Events every week:

Tuesday: Pub Quiz - £1 entry, £25 prize, bottles of wine and free drink questions
Thursday: Showcase 55 - live music showcase the best new talent in London
Friday: Se55ions - we invite our favourite Showcase bands back to play again
Sunday: live Jazz on the last sunday of every month
Also hire our function room and private bar for a party, meeting, AGM, focus group, dance class, rehearsal area. PA system, projector and flipboards available.

Just refurbished, and now a great pub. No longer the scrappy old boozer that it was up until February 2010. Now a welcoming fire, excellent Fullers ales (ESB, London Pride and Swing Low), and really tasty Italian food. The whole atmosphere is really good, and they have live music, and also a huge refurbished function room.
Well worth a visit.

What an outdated view of this pub. The new owners charlie and Tom have done an amazing transformation of this sad and dingy pub. We had a brilliant meal there last Saturday and loved their fantastic Scicillian menu. We are going again at the weekend as the beer is great, ESB is excellent, London Pride and Swing low and I loved the Aspinall Cider. Go there it is great
