The Landseer, Archway
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Landseer is a big airy gastropub on a quiet corner in Holloway. It feels like a place more for eating than drinking, although most of its clientele was to be found drinking on the tables outside during our visit, enjoying some rare Bank Holiday sunshine. The place consists of two rooms. The main room is packed with rows of tables with a few sofas tucked around the edges. At least the tables were very solid, not the rickety mismatched affairs you find in some gastro-boozers. The side room, which seemed to be for dining only, had also been stripped out but retained some nice features including tiling near the large skylight. Menu was classic gastropub fare, with mains from £11-14 and a tapas / bar snacks menu also on offer. We enjoyed the three real ales on tap, including Woodforde's Wherry, and the selection of funk music on the sound system. If you squint a bit you could imagine yourself in Notting Hill... but we're not sure if that is a good thing or not!
