The Langthorne (ex Yates's Wine Lodge), Stratford
FancyaPint?'s review...
Still large and Sadly, a bit Yates-like. Still, the staff are friendly and efficient. We had to ask twice when they role us the price of a pint - they're obviously aiming to compete with the likes of the Goose at the other end of the Broadway and the Wetherspoons. It was a nice surprise. Then we noticed the signs for 'house' bitter under £2 - although we have to say this is a new concept for us. The Cask Marque plaque on the door was born out by the only beer on tap at the time. The food on offer is comparable in price to a Wetherspoons, with what looks like a good deal - pie and a drink for under £6. Okay, no prizes for guessing it gets busy of an evening - what else do they need all that space for? Still, if you can't get into Ye Olde Black Bull across the road, this is an okay alternative.
