The Lion, West Hampstead
FancyaPint?'s review...
What was once an unremarkable pub has now been transformed into an unremarkable pub for people who don't really like pubs. There's been a makeover to make it look more like a wine bar, but it now seems a rather sorry compromise in an area where there isn't much choice. This might explain why it was busy enough on our visit (and it is a roomy place) because the only things that really stood out were the negatives. Service was poor (one barman broke off taking our order to chat with his mates), the acoustics bad - really it was far too noisy given the restrained chatter of the clientele - and the choice of food and drinks uninspiring. That said, the garden out back and seating area out front are popular.
