This one's had a makeover since we were in last in and it feels much more upmarket. We also discovered that as it's part of Lords Crocket Ground, it's closed to the public on match days - it gets used for posh (read expensive) corporate hospitality during matches, which is a bit of a shame for punters. Still, when there isn't a match on, it's worth a look. Okay, it's not a traditional pub and leans more toward the gastro end of the spectrum to be sure, but you can still go in and have a beer without a table reservation - and there is space just to have a drink. While not a Marstons pub per se, all the beers are from their stables or approved suppliers, which is no bad thing. It's friendly enough and as it's on the edge of one of the homes of cricket, you shouldn't have any problem striking up a conversation about the beautiful game (sorry, was that a footy ref?). It's a little out of the way, but if you find yourself in this part of the world, take the tour and have a pint!

I agree that this is not really a pub but if you want good quality freshly cooked food at a reasonable price, in clean modern surroundings, this place cannot be faulted. The downside is the erratic opening hours and lack of real ales.
