The Midas Touch, Soho
FancyaPint?'s review...
We were pretty scathing in a previous review of this place and were happy to hear that things had changed here since our last visit and we'd been invited to re-apprise our original assessment. It's taken a long time to get round here, but we finally managed it the other night. Well, we're happy to say that the god-awful music played on previous visits is no longer in evidence, but little else appears to have changed. There are plenty of screens for watching the sport and it still has a late licence (and no cover charge) - but that's not such a rarity in the new licensing regime. The problem is the place just lacks atmosphere, there's little here to warm to. The drink really isn't up to much either, the sort of bland stuff you can find anywhere. If you're walking past and it's late and you're thirsty you'll probably find yourself dropping in, but it's not on a main drag, or on a likely route to anywhere, so even this possibility is remote.
