The Montpelier, Peckham
FancyaPint?'s review...
The last few years has seen a fair few of Peckham's pubs being spruced up, and the new-look Montpelier certainly continues that trend. We're glad to report this one's not another gastro copycat: there's leather settles instead of butcher's block tables and even a big screen at the back of the pub (usually the first thing to go when a pub seeks to upgrade itself). Saying that, it's very much foodie-oriented and it's a shame that none of their ales were working when we stopped by. There's certainly a local market for what The Montpelier has to offer, and there may soon be a time when a pub like this - rather than the old man's boozer it used to be - is the default setting for drinking in SE15.

The pub was refitted this year, and has been transformed from the frankly unpleasant old man's pub into a very family orientated gastro-pub. We've eaten there a few times now, and haven't been disappointe yet. If you went before the refit, give it another shot, if you've never been, it's definitely worth a visit...
