There's been a pub on this corner for a long time and we think it used to be called the Castle. Made over and under new management, it's now a very modern style pub, if that makes sense - lots of comfy sofas, polished floors and muted colours on the walls. It's decent enough and the pint of Doom Bar we had when we were last in was pretty well kept. There's lots to do, with a pool table, a Tuesday quiz and tellies spread around the place, not to mention a nice little sun trap of a garden. It's obviously kid friendly, as the disabled toilet has changing facilities - not something we've seen before. The menu's simple and fairly traditional, and it won't break the bank either. It's looking promising and the smell of paint is still hanging around, as it's that new. Only worrying thing was a hole that looked to have been punched in the wall of the (very nice) bogs. We'll keep an eye on it, but we're impressed so far.

i think this pub used to be called the cedar tree not the castle - but anyway - we have been visiting loads recently and the current owners / managers are doing a great job. Good drinks, actually friendly service ( a rare thing these days!) good pub food and like you say loads going on - sky, pool table, quiz, nice liitle sunny garden at the back. Their burgers are brilliant and i know i for one will be a firm fixture next month for the world cup.
