The Northgate has now reopened and appears t be holding a New Year's party to celebrate. Haven't yet tested it out myself, but let us hope it has recovered a more welcoming atmosphere than it enjoyed in its previous incarnation.

Some of the best food in Islington, their steaks are great, good selection of vegitarian food, 3/4 different real ales and upgraded selection of cool beers/largers.

I am a local and have eaten at most Islington restaurants, if the Northgate were situated more centraly it would be a very popular place.

Thoroughly recommended.

From Essex Road station, turn onto Essex Road and veer left, away from all the other Essex Road bars and take the third right, Northchurch Road. At the end, turn right onto Southgate Road and the pub will soon be on the right.
