The Old Monk, Westminster
FancyaPint?'s review...
Beset by flooding problems due to its basement location and shut for a while, the Old Monk reopened a few years back in all its, er, splendour. Actually, it's not too bad - the food is hearty and there are a few well kept ales complimented by a couple of proper ciders which keep the local office workers happy; if in doubt, you may be able to get a taster to see if you like it first. With plenty of standing space in the main area (read: sparse), the back is a better bet, with snug cubby-holes and a skylighted ceiling onto the street. Enjoying a pint and watching the commuters go by is rather disconcerting when seen from underneath. Ultimately this is a fairly generic office worker's pub, but it covers all the bases pretty well.
