The Old Star, Westminster
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Old Star is a fairly bland and uninspired modern style Greene King pub. Having had a bit of a rearrange and tidy up, pine and light wood are the order of the day, with plenty of standing space to accommodate the after work crowd. The most interesting area is downstairs which features some cubby holes in what was once probably the cellar. Also downstairs are the toilets and we can vouch the gents is not for the claustrophobic or excessively tall chap-about-town. Being Greene King, there's three or four standard and averagely kept ales, probably the most interesting drinks on the menu, while service was prompt enough. It's not a great pub, and it's one advantage is probably is the proximity to St James' tube station, but otherwise there are better places to drink on the same street.
