Clapham does organic muesli bars and art deco patisseries extremely well, but it is rather less successful at providing a traditional pub experience. The Plough is therefore something of an out of place curiosity as it is so earthy it probably has roots burrowing thirty feet under ground. The interior is a bit of a bare affair, with scattered tables and chairs providing just about the right amount of space for the steady clientele of middle aged and male locals and it's avoided one of Young's makeovers. At the bar you'll find efficient service, standard tipples - including the usual selection of Young's beers - and a reasonable amount of customer warmth. Though don't expect flowers and kisses, as the Plough is a man's pub without many frills and no doubt some will find the interior a little bit too worn to be called comfortable. Still for most people the Plough will be an enjoyable respite from some of its slimy, over-priced neighbours as well as a refreshing stop off point on Wandsworth Road.

How to find the The Plough Inn pub

The Plough lies almost in the middle of the 87 and 77 bus routes from both Vauxhall to Clapham Junction and vice versa - from each starting point it will take you a 15 minute journey to reach the Plough. From the direction of Vauxhall alight just after the Plough on Wandsworth road (a nudge past a busy bank of traffic lights that has the Artesian Well club on one corner) and from Clapham Junction alight just before the Plough after passing the Lambourn street turn off on Wandsworth Road on your right hand side.
