Standing on a picturesque green, The Prince was once a testament to lost opportunity. Having been taken over a while ago, however, things have thankfully improved since our last visit. First off, this is certainly a handsome two roomed pub which boasts an attractive oak panelled side room, now glowing with lustre. With fresh flowers on the bar, comfortable armchairs, good lighting and lots of plants, the feel is warm and elegant. Service though was merely perfunctory and it's been a long time since we were served a pint of ale as badly off as the London Pride we had here. It was clearly bad from the first draw of the pump, so we don't suppose they're going to win many awards for their cellarmanship. We guess they don't have much call for ale in N22. Our Sunday night visit also found a large, extended family who had colonised the main bar, perpetually playing pool and eating pizza takeaways out of cardboard containers. Their rather suspicious reaction to our presence also made us feel as if we were gatecrashing a private party. While this is certainly an attractive pub, due to the issues we encountered we can only award a rating that hovers somewhere between a one and a two.

From Wood Green tube, turn right and turn left at the first junction onto Bounds Green Road. A few minutes walk and just passed a school, The Prince is on the right hand side, over the far side of a small green.
