The Railway, Dagenham
FancyaPint?'s review...
The pub has now closed.
Our final review from November 2004:
Skanky-manky and entirely unremarkable two-bar establishment. The public bar is almost a dictionary definition of poky', the saloon less so, but it could certainly use a makeover. On our Saturday afternoon visit, most of the clientele were solitary boozers nonchalantly staring at the racing on TV. The otherwise friendly barmaid, who would possibly be a fan of W.H. Auden had she heard of him, expressed concern at our choice of reading matter (a cultural history of Russia) and queried why we could not read Martina Cole, 'like everybody else'. Hmmm... Because we'd never even heard of her, for starters...
