The Reliance, Shoreditch
FancyaPint?'s review...
A mainstay of the Old Street drinking scene for a number of years, the Reliance is popular throughout the week with the after work crowd, with Friday and Saturday nights bringing even more punters through the doors. This pub is all about clean lines not clutter but has enough character about it to recommend, especially with the excellent eclectic jukebox providing aural stimulation. It looks quite compact from the front, though an upstairs section doubles capacity and is probably a better option for larger groups. A seat next to the window upstairs is a perfect vantage point for counting the number of blokes walking down Old Street who've opted for wearing unnecessary hats. A lucky few can also slouch on a couch in a dimly lit corner at the back downstairs. Ale drinkers are well catered for and there are two strengths of Czech Litovel on tap, with quite a large selection of bottled offerings from Belgium. The staff can be a bit hit and miss, but if it's the former you should have a good time.

How to find the The Reliance pub
From Old Street: Take the East exit (Shoreditch) exit from the station and proceed straight ahead on Old Street. Follow it around past the Foundry on the left - stay to the left, as the road bears right down Great Eastern Street. The pub should be just around the corner.
