The Resolute, Poplar
FancyaPint?'s review...
It's nice to know that not all pubs in Poplar have slipped into no-go local zones. The Resolute is well-kept house with friendly staff and bantering punters, any night of the week it's an amiable place, but on a Saturday early evening visit, the place was just kicking off and the lively atmosphere made us want to stay. There's decent ale on the hand pumps, including the not so easy to find (nowadays) Tetleys plus Adnam's. There'll probably be sport on at least one of the TVs (there are five of them plus a projector) sometimes showing different sports on each, but that doesn't detract from the air of conviviality. One question though - we can understand an East End pub having darts trophies in it's cabinet, but how on earth did they get the one for golf around here?
