The Spotted Horse, Putney
FancyaPint?'s review...
The Spotted Horse is another Young's pub that's 'benefited' from a makeover. We can hear you sigh from here. But it's not that bad, honest - in fact, it's pretty good. Okay, it's more of a lounge bar now, but it's comfortable (think squishy sofas and chairs, alongside butcher block tables) and welcoming with decent beer on the taps and a good menu to go along with it. Add to that genial locals and a nice fire (best in Winter, obviously) and it's just the sort of place to settle in for an evening. There's lots going on here, with Monday night poker and the Wednesday night quiz, but other times it's just a decent pub with a dining area at the back. The pub has a tiny frontage, giving the misguided notion that it's not very big, but even with the rear of the pub largely converted to dining, the place still feels pretty roomy once you get in and we were pleasantly surprised how much we liked it. We'll no doubt be going back again soon.
