The Steam Engine, Lambeth
FancyaPint?'s review...
A fairly traditional pub in a leafy side-street, as evidenced by the group of OAPs in the corner when we were in recently. Now part of a chain offering hostel accommodation in London, the pub itself isn't vastly different to previous visits; it's still large and friendly enough - service was prompt and courteous, serving our choice of the only ale on tap with calm efficiency. It's got a tiny sun space at the back for the smokers, or if you fancy a drink al fresco. With tellies all over the place, the footy was on when we were in last, hardly surprising with the international demographic of the guests. As there aren't that many pubs with rooms in London, it is popular with visitors. Pleasant enough and if you're in the area, give it a go.
