Having somehow survived the construction a small gaggle of 1960s tower blocks to its left and the very recent construction of some newer (but no more attractive) low rise flats to it's right, you get the impression this locals' boozer can't be long for this world. On our last visit a hustler was taking on all comers at pool and voices were only raised when the jukebox spluttered to a halt (normality was soon restored with 'Hotel California' then 'Whiskey in the Jar' - possibly the default setting for this model of jukebox). Whilst Acton has some better (and arguably worse) pubs, we nevertheless developed a soft spot for this one. Its mere survival is a fact of some amazement to us - weren't pubs like this one supposed to have died off a while ago?

Need a place to smile at friendly faces then Welcome To The Talbot, with it's mixed crowd there is something for everyone, slightly set back off the high street this is a little gem whether it's a night to nurse the pint or a night to throw back your head and laugh and I've done that a few times. It has plenty to entertain, a bargain pool table, darts section, a wide selection on the juke box 2.00 plays 9 songs you only have over 4,000 to choose from and has a sound to suit everyone unless I'm on there selecting. You have poker nights, quiz nights and killer pool nights. So if you can't decide what to do just come in and marvel at the great banter that goes on in there and get a great welcome. Families are welcome as well. Infact The Talbot always has room for another member to join the family around the fire, which is lovely in this rubbish weather at the moment. It is a good little pub only minutes away from public transport and it serves as great to start to a night, spend the night or end the night there infact my problem is I start there and stay there!!

The new landlord is doing a good job at turning it around after taking over from a split family. Some patrons had moved on but they are coming back as there is no pub in Acton that has that feeling of coming home whether it's only been 24hours since you were last there or 2 months.

I have to say It's Good To Be Back!! There is a good selection of drinks that are not overpriced and well you will have to visit because the atmosphere cannot be felt in words alone but it is warm and rich. If you need a room then ask the man, it is like everything else there definately not overpriced and is in a great location for transport. So don't be shy join the Talbot family today you can't go wrong. See you all there soon.....
