The Tottenham, Fitzrovia
FancyaPint?'s review...
We've heard a rumour this Nicholson's pub - the only remaining pub on Oxford Street - has been Grade II listed, in an effort to keep it a pub. It's doing its best to stand out from the general madness of this part of town, but unfortunately it's still all you'd expect from the only pub on London's busiest road. It serves an ever changing throng of shoppers, tourists and chancers and quickly fills up. The Victorian décor hints at past glories, including three curvaceous ladies apparently painted by Felix de Jong, a leading decorative artist from music hall days. But frankly, unless you enjoy hopping over shopping bags then a scrum at the bar before you get served, head downstairs for a slightly more peaceful drinking environment.
