The Thornbury Castle is a good standard local pub in an area which isn't short of boozers, regardless of their quality. We visited here as it was convenient for Marylebone station, but it very nearly caused us to miss our train as the atmosphere was so good. They had a good couple of ales on tap, closely knit bench tables out front (this was a Summer visit) and a friendly crowd. Service was also very good. We didn't eat here, but the plates that we saw being taken around looked good and the prices on the menu reasonable. Just around the corner, if you have more time, there are several 4-5 pinters but missing this one out would be a shame as they appear to be doing a good job of combining a office-drinkers pub with a genuine local.

Horrible horrible place, ran by a horrible horrible man. We went to watch the football with some friends. The pub was empty and we asked for the volume to be turned on and the owner rudely refused. My friend had a burger that tasted horribly and a very expensive pint of Guinness. When we were about to order the owner came around and told us that we had to leave because we hadn't ordered anything! I even laughed at how irrational the guy was and by the fact that he came in all rude and with the wrong attitude and lost business from 5 people that were actually going to have dinner and drinks there. I have actually just created an account to warn other people from coming to this ghastly place. First time in London I have experienced such a wrong attitude. No wonder the pub was empty...

Recently introduced an even larger range of ales, some of which will become staples, others will continue to be rotated. Family run pub, all of them very friendly and sports mad (particularly rugby). If you fancy something to eat, you will not leave hungry!
