Airports are like casinos. Virtually no daylight, complete confusion as to what time it is, and hundreds of people trying to convince you to spend all your money right here, right now. Heathrow is the daddy of all airports. The world's busiest and possibly the last place in the world anyone would want to actually spend time. However, due to three hour check-ins and regular flight delays, travellers don't have much option. Thankfully eating and drinking concessions are getting better, and a good example of this is Terminal 3's Three Bells, part of the Geronimo Inns chain. Surrounded by a sketchy mural of London's most famous attractions and photos of dead 'slebs (Marilyn, Elvis, James Dean - you know the sort), the airport bar and diner will at least allow you to escape the demented hordes below with some reasonable draughts (Adnam's and Pride) and a range of bottled beers to keep you sane. There's also a surprisingly good wine list given the size of the place, and some tasty grub on offer. Sky Sports is also available if there's something worth showing, rolling news if not. Staff were a little over-attentive - but that may be due to different perceptions of 'service' and they may need to lay it on a bit thick for the Americans - but they knew what they were doing and service was prompt and friendly. And they're happy to let you enjoy your food and drink without turfing you out into the madness below.

How to find the Three Bells pub

It's on the public side of Departures and upstairs above the Virgin check in area. If you go up the escalators there, turn left and you should see it next to Pontis.
