Teddington Lock marks the upper limit of the tidal Thames (and the end of the jurisdiction of the PLA) and it's from the pub's proximity to this point that the Tide End Cottage gets its name. The pub itself is is a handsome old place serving Cask Marque (Greene King) ales with a regular guest (the rather nice Royal London on our last visit). Teddington Lock is a popular site for visitors, especially summer weekends, and on such occasions the pub soon fills up. And this was the problem here on our previous visit, there just wasn't enough room. However, since then, the pub has had a substantial extension added out back and gained a lot of much-needed space. However most of the time the pub is comfortably quiet, with a mix of locals popping in for food, drink and a natter. There's a substantial food menu, with separate menus for bar food, main meals and burgers - there's a strong emphasis on burgers, which are pretty good and naturally, there's a Sunday roast. As well as the beer there's a decent enough wine list (with the cheapest Dom Perignon we've seen for a while. Smokers and fresh-air enthusiasts are well-catered for with a few tables out the front and a deck area at the back, replete brollies and heaters. The Tide End Cottage is a friendly place, with decent beer, reasonable value food and, generally a relaxed atmosphere and even though you can't see the river from here, the Tide End cottage is a good enough reason to visit.

A really good pub. Good food and nicely kept beers. The staff are friendly and so are the regulars. No yuppies in cargo shorts and flip flops on the week-ends neither with their hordes of uncontrolled kids (they go next door to the Angler) Long may it last

Recently being acquired by Greene King, this riverside stalwart has been substantially refurbished, with the old tent conservatory covering the rear of the pub being made into a more solid permanent fixture. It still hasn't lost its warm & cosy feel. There's a good offering of pub food favourites, along with all the lunchtime and evening specials only a large pub group could offer day-in day-out.
The cask ales are kept in good nick, though the range was limited, the service was fast and efficient.
This would be a good place to be if you've stumbled out of the Landmark Arts Centre and needed to defrost before taking the journey home from Teddington. There is still a small remnant of a beer garden/patio for les fumers out the back.

The Tide End has recently had some new owners, and it is a great little pub! I have never had slow service, the food is always really good, and it's got a great atmosphere. I live just across the road, so visit pretty regularly, and its always great, much better than the Anglers next door. The one thing we miss is the extensive burger menu that seems to have dissapeared, but still excellent!! Try it!

From Teddington BR: Follow Station Road to the High Street and then turn right. Keep walking and you'll come to Ferry Road. You'll see the pub on your right. From Hampton Wick BR: turn down Station Road onto Lower Teddington Road. Turn left and keep walking. And walking. And walking... As the road changes to Broom Road, and then as Teddington Studios turn up on your right. Turn right down Ferry Road when you pass The Anglers pub and you'll be at the pub. It takes about 25 minutes from the station. But it does mean you'll arrive thirsty
