From the people who brought you the Balham Bowls Club, here's another arresting makeover. Once upon a time this was indeed a tram shed - you don't get that ceiling height naturally. The bar is a long, long way from the previous Scream bar, and does its best to fill the rather cavernous space in a creative way. It feels not unlike an art installation: a chilly Victorian industrial space, dotted with artfully arranged kitsch - something akin to Tate Modern's turbine hall housing the later sections of the Geffrye Museum. Perhaps remarkably though, we didn't find the d�cor overbearing, nor did it get in the way of an enjoyable few drinks - all at reasonable prices, three drinks leaving decent change from a tenner (how things change, eh?). There was a live music night on when we were in last, with three bands, two we didn't know, one we did and a fairly broad mix of punters enjoying the music. With great beer, friendly staff who keep their senses of humour under pressure and excellent music, we have to say this is a really great bar. We're already planning to go back.
