Walkers is a hidden away place a stones throw from Trafalgar Square which, overshadowed by the tourist-attracting Sliver Cross just in front, predominantly attracts the afterwork crowd. There's also more space than you'd give credit for on first sight, with a bar on the ground floor plus two more basement levels full of nooks and crannies to hide away in. There's naturally a considerable wine list and the ales they offer are usually well kept. Although this place benefited from the smoking ban, the basement bars still suffer terribly from a lack of ventilation and it can get very humid and sweaty the busy times. Unremarkable but competent.

How to find the Walkers of Whitehall pub

From Charing Cross, turn left and head for Trafalgar Square. Once there, turn left and head in a clockwise direction around the square until you reach Whitehall. The little alleyway to the pub is across the road from the Theatre. Westminster: Take the Whitehall exit and walk up towards Trafalgar Square. As long as you're on the opposite side of the road to the Whitehall Theatre you'll find Craig's Court almost at the top of Whitehall.

Detailed Description

Like most buildings in London, Walkers of Whitehall didn't start it's life as a licensed premises. Built in 1694, it was originally an Irish bank, with cashiers upstairs and the offices and vaults below.

It's taken on several transformations since then and when Morton-Scott Bar & Restaurant Company Ltd acquired the business in 2004, it underwent yet another change.

We don't claim to be a fancy gastro pub or overpriced restaurant but we do endeavour to be honest, value for money and above all tasty and fresh
