A friendly and rather old-fashioned pub deep in suburbia. A line drawing of a crowd of regulars and staff displayed over the bar suggest this is a place with a strong community spirit. Similarly, the wide range of events that the pub organises: weekly meat raffle, monthly quiz, occasional live music or karaoke and disco seem to bear this out, as do pictures of the guide dogs that the pub's regulars have sponsored over the years. The beer situation is less impressive: although promotional material for several of Fullers ales abounds, only Pride is available on the hand pumps. Not really worth going out of your way to visit, the Walnut Tree is none the less a decent local and preferable to nearby alternatives.
