The Walrus Social is an old Lower Marsh boozer (once the Red Lion) that's been adapted for a bar clientele. There's still the air of a pub to the place, although there are no real ales, there's a pretty standard range of beers on tap and, as it aspires to be a bar, there are also spirits and cocktails. The word "social" may appear in this place's name, but it ain't no working man's club - prices here are definitely in bar territory, being somewhat pricey. There's a function room upstairs that used to host music and comedy evenings, although things have been quiet on that front recently and there's a big screen downstairs for the the sport. It's quite lively here towards the end of the week, but in these parts there's not a great deal of competition.
