With choice memorabilia throughout the pub, including a brass ships's telegraph (which tells the engine room to stop or go), this pub does a lot of things right. The friendly staff, decent beer and genial locals make it a rather relaxed and easy going place. There's two menus: one traditional pub grub with all meat sourced from the same farm in Somerset, and one providing a decent range of Indian cuisine. We've heard good things about the Indian food on offer, but as yet, we've yet to sample it for ourselves - we like the fact that you get a choice between a sausage sandwich or chicken tikka masala. That said, the Friday all you can eat Indian buffet sounds like something worth investigating, as does the promise of a Sunday Carvery. In our opinion, it's the sort of pub ideally suited to an afternoon of slothful drinking, which is hardly a chore with the range of Fuller's beers on tap.
