The White Horse is an old Charrington pub situated on a busy road near Newham Town Hall. Inside, the decor and furnishings are sparse and subtly colour-coded in the claret and blue of West Ham United. Sport and games dominate proceedings here: pool, darts, ever-present footy on Sky and a couple of fruit machines. Whitbread bitter was the sole bitter on tap and the drink selection is very basic. The only remarkable part of our visit here was the jukebox, playing MC Hammer and Mel and Kim: unless your idea of showing out (get fresh at the weekend) involves the Hammers, we'd give this place a miss.
