The White Lion is a decent and down-to-earth pub, hidden away down a side street but close enough to Barbican and Old Street. Coming here, we have always found a couple of well kept ales, friendly service and a pretty mixed crowd. We've also noticed on a couple of occasions sandwiches and other nibbles laid out - we weren't sure they were for general consumption, but grabbed a couple without being reprimanded. There are a couple of screens for the footy, but they play music videos at other times, while a room at the back boasts two pool tables and two dart boards. A wander in the area finds a lot of pubs which have closed in the last 5 or so years, so it is a pleasure to find the White Lion: a refreshingly normal pub we enjoy visiting.
