White Swan, Aldgate
FancyaPint?'s review...
We've known the White Swan for a long time - decades, actually. A favourite place for the after office hours pre-commute drink and to meet up on the way for a curry, it's everything we've come to expect of Shepherd Neame pubs - good beer and good service. There's a pretty reasonable range of pub food and a choice of coffees - so it's clear who predominately comprises the clientele; office workers from around here. The only downside is it gets crowded straight after work, but it does quieten down later in the evening as the commuters wend their weary ways home. Not open at weekends.

How to find the White Swan pub
It's not easy to give directions owing to the number of tube exits, subways and the monstrous one-way system at Aldgate. You need to get on the south side of the one-way system - where traffic is heading towards the City . From there you can go down Leman Street and turn right into Alie Street, or Mansell Street and turn left into Alie Street and you'll find the pub about half way long. If you get off the at the number 25 bus stop, there's actually a little alleyway that cuts through by the side of the pub.
