The Bull Hotel is a charming, historic high street coaching inn and has been since 1580. OK, the hoteliers have got their hands on it and upgraded it here and there but there's still the feeling inside of an old higgledy-piggledy pub with lots of rooms here and there. The 'pub' and hotel are kept at opposite ends of the building, not that it's a problem, we like places that offer rooms. In the 'pub' part, we found the two usual Greene King culprits on the pubs as well as a tasty guest ale. They do good quality food and a nice patio out the back in which to enjoy it all. Melford's pubs are slowly gentrifying at the hands of creative types but hopefully this one will resist their tampering.
