Long Melford used to have 5 times the number of pubs that it now possesses with the remaining ones have to work hard and ensure they offer a lot to lure in the punters. The Crown has a friendly bar area and had 4 real ales on tap including one from a brewery that was new to us, the Brentford Brewery. The ales are well kept and the service quick and friendly. Out back (well, to the side anyway) there's plenty of space to enjoy a pint in the fresh air. If you're looking for food they offer two distinctly different menus at the bar and in their restaurant. Tucker looked like either honest pub grub, or a slightly more gastro mix. Of all the 3 pinters on the high street, we'd say that this is the one which is closest to a 4 but just falls short on the atmos. Well worth a visit though.
